the Main Box serves a central role in aesthetics and brand identity. Therefore, advanced printing and finishing techniques are typically concentrated on the main box, while the level of technical processing applied to inner boxes, paper bags, and accompanying items is appropriately moderated to optimize costs and ensure overall consistency.
The following article will present several representative characteristics in the production of Tet Main Boxes at Newlifepack, covering structure, materials, printing, and finishing techniques.
Rigid Boxes are produced from chipboard (also known as greyboard) — a material group characterized by high compression strength, substantial thickness, and excellent formability. With their sturdy structure and flat surface that is well suited for decorative printing and premium finishing techniques, rigid boxes are currently a leading choice for high-end Tet Gift Boxes and Tet Packaging Boxes for products such as imported spirits and liquor, bird’s nest and nutritional foods, feng shui wealth vases and symbolic items, as well as other luxury gift products.
Newlifepack is one of the few packaging printing companies in Southern Vietnam that has invested in a complete chipboard rigid box production line, with a fully in-house, closed-loop manufacturing process and no outsourced stages. Thanks to its in-house production capability, the company can manufacture up to 20,000 rigid boxes per day (depending on structural complexity and finishing techniques).
Common rigid box structures for Tet Gift Boxes:

Corrugated Boxes — commonly referred to as carton boxes — are produced from corrugated paperboard consisting of alternating flat liner sheets and fluted medium layers, forming a structure that is both sturdy and lightweight, suitable for a wide range of packaging and transportation needs.
A key advantage of corrugated boxes is their flexibility in transitioning between a flat-packed state and an assembled box form, enabling efficient space utilization in storage and convenience in logistics and shipping. As a result, corrugated boxes are a practical choice for mass-market Tet Gift Boxes or large-volume corporate gift sets, where cost efficiency and logistics optimization are prioritized.

In the packaging printing industry, the core printing system is often regarded as the “heart” of a factory, as it concentrates the key factors that determine finished product quality, production efficiency, and a company’s competitive capability. At Newlifepack, we operate the KOMORI Lithrone G40 Advance 6-color offset press — one of the world’s most advanced printing systems currently available, with a total investment value exceeding USD 2 million.

The KOMORI Lithrone G40 Advance is developed on KOMORI’s core technology ecosystem, integrating intelligent control, precise color management, and comprehensive digital production connectivity. Referred to as the “Diamond Press,” this machine incorporates leading advanced technological solutions, including:
The synchronized integration of these technologies enables sharp image reproduction, vivid print colors, and exceptional stability throughout the production process, meeting the stringent standards of the high-end packaging industry.
Investment in advanced equipment allows Newlifepack to maintain full control over high-end Offset Printing and Metalize Printing processes, efficiently handle large-volume orders, complex structures, and urgent timelines, while sustaining strict quality control and optimizing production costs.
The KOMORI Lithrone G40 Advance belongs to the Lithrone GX/G Advance Series, developed for high-end commercial and packaging printing, delivering stable, sharp, and consistent offset print quality on every sheet. The press supports multi-color printing, meeting stringent brand color standards and ensuring image consistency across various substrates.
With its Connected Automation architecture, KOMORI optimizes the integration of prepress, press, and postpress processes, reducing color setup time, stabilizing workflow control, and maintaining color consistency across large production runs.
Its high-precision ink control and regulation system minimizes color deviation between print runs, ensuring accurate color reproduction and uniform ink coverage — a critical factor in the production of premium brand packaging.
Unlike offset printing on conventional paper, metalized printing is an offset technique performed directly on metalized paper — a substrate with a thin metallic-coated surface. Thanks to the metalized base layer, printed ink not only appears sharp but also naturally reflects metallic highlights, creating visual depth and a distinctive light-catching effect.
OPV / AQ / UV varnish coating — Creating diverse surface effects
The press supports flexible application of OPV, AQ, and UV varnish systems, enabling multiple surface-effect zones on a single printed product, ranging from gloss, satin, matte, to sand-like finishes. This solution enhances design details, increases visual depth, and elevates aesthetic value for high-end packaging applications on metalize paper.
White underprint — Creating metallic knockout & metallic tint effects
The press supports high-precision white underprinting on metalized paper, allowing controlled coverage to form metallic knockout areas (retaining the base metallic sheen) and metallic tint areas (combining ink color with metallic reflection). As a result, printed products achieve refined, sharp, and consistent metallic effects directly during the printing process.

With its optimized metalized printing performance, the KOMORI Lithrone G40 Advance not only delivers high-quality output but also expands creative possibilities, enhances aesthetic value, and strengthens market competitiveness for Tet Gift Boxes and Tet Packaging Boxes.
Metalized paper is produced in-house using advanced roll-to-roll laminating technology, combining pressure bonding and thermal curing within a 12.5-meter drying tunnel. The process is tightly controlled in terms of temperature, speed, and pressure, ensuring precise and uniform lamination of the metalized film onto the base paper. As a result, the laminated surface achieves exceptional smoothness and flatness, providing an optimal foundation for metalized printing and packaging products with superior aesthetic and technical performance.
Surface Effects are post-print finishing processes applied directly onto the printed ink layer to protect the surface and enhance visual impact, such as shimmer, reflectivity, or dimensional relief. When executed with precision and appropriate design intent, surface effects can elevate packaging appearance, create a strong visual impression, and significantly increase the perceived value of a product compared to the original print.
At Newlifepack, we master most of the surface finishing techniques commonly used in the packaging printing industry. In parallel, continuous updates on emerging trends and ongoing investment in modern machinery enable us to accurately realize design concepts, delivering vivid, sharp, and consistent surface effects across packaging products.
Foil Stamping is a finishing technique that uses heat and pressure to transfer a thin metallic foil layer onto the paper surface, commonly applied to logos, brand names, or symbolic graphic elements. Popular foil colors such as gold, silver, bronze, rose gold, and champagne gold create a striking metallic sheen and a premium visual impression.
Foil stamping enhances design details, strengthens brand recognition, and conveys a sense of luxury at first glance. In gift packaging, the shimmering foil layer not only serves as a visual highlight but also communicates value, refinement, and the brand’s message of appreciation embedded in each product.

Metallic Knockout, also referred to as Metalize Knockout, describes the visual result of White Underprinting on metalize paper. This technique leverages the metalize substrate to generate metallic effects by controlling the coverage of white underprint layers.
Compared to traditional foil stamping, metallic knockout delivers a similar visual effect without requiring stamping dies, offering greater design flexibility while reducing production cost and lead time. This is a contemporary printing technique that is increasingly adopted in the premium packaging segment.
Embossing is a technique that creates raised relief above the paper surface, enhancing visual dynamism and providing a pronounced tactile experience. While traditional embossing produces a single-layer effect, 3D Embossing on chipboard is an advanced variation with multi-layer depth, generating a more distinct three-dimensional appearance and a more premium visual perception.
This technique increases visual depth, highlights design details, and is particularly effective for Tet Gift Boxes as well as high-end product packaging. When combined with foil stamping or spot UV, embossing produces a dual-accent effect that is both refined and distinctive, enhancing the overall aesthetic value of the packaging.

Spot UV is a technique that applies a glossy UV coating to selected areas such as logos, text, or graphic elements, creating strong contrast against matte backgrounds or standard printed surfaces. This technique enhances visual depth, highlights key details, and produces dynamic light-reflection effects as the viewing angle changes.
Spot UV can be applied in a thick layer (raised UV) or combined with embossing to increase tactile prominence, dimensional depth, and surface texture. This combination allows design elements to catch light more distinctly on the printed background, delivering a premium visual effect commonly applied in luxury packaging and high-end gift boxes.

Drip-off is a surface finishing technique that creates contrast between gloss and matte areas on the same printed sheet, producing a visual effect similar to Spot UV. The process consists of two steps: first, a matte coating is applied to designated areas where a dull effect is required; then, a gloss coating is applied over the entire surface.
Due to differences in polarity between the two coating layers, the gloss layer is repelled (drip-off) from the matte-coated areas, forming clearly defined alternating glossy and matte regions. A key advantage of this technique is its ability to be executed directly on an offset press, helping to shorten production time and optimize costs.
